Project Description
This project provides clean water and sanitation facilities to hill tribe peoples in 21 very poor remote villages in Northern Thailand. The water is mountain spring sourced. Water is brought directly into the villages via gravity-fed buried pipe systems, no pumps are used; the water then passes through a filtration system, and finally into 15,000-liter storage tanks. Sanitation is critically important since these villages have had no septic or sewer systems. This WASH project includes squat toilets and showers for all villagers. Since there is no machinery involved, very low maintenance is required, these WASH systems have 30+ years life-expectancies.
