The Rotary Club of Makati’s AI Academy is a pioneering initiative that equips underprivileged Filipino youth with Artificial Intelligence and data science skills, preparing them for meaningful careers in a digital future. Built on three pillars—Education, Empowerment, Employment—the program provides technical training, mentorship, and pathways to jobs, addressing both inequality and youth unemployment. As Rotary’s first AI-focused project in Southeast Asia, it blends innovation with service, introducing tools like ChatGPT and DALL·E alongside ethical practices. Sustained by RC Makati’s funding and partnerships with KadaKareer, Sisters of Mary, DICT, and industry leaders, the Academy exemplifies Rotary’s values and collaborative spirit.

The AI Academy is led by President Eddie Galvez, Dir. Roger Collantes (conceptualization), Dir. Fred Parungao (project management), and Dir. Philip Soliven (partnerships). Strong external partners drive impact:
Sister Mylene Arambulo of the Sisters of Mary provided access to deserving students from Boy’s Town and Girl’s Town;
Sean Karl Calsada of KadaKareer managed curriculum delivery and mentorship;
Rotaract Club of Makati provide facilitation support;
and Dept. of Information and Communication Technology Secretary Henry Aguda aligned the program with the national AI roadmap.
Together, this collaboration ensured the Academy’s innovation, sustainability, and reach.
